Grade 5/6

Grade 5/6 Religious Education

This term the year 5/6 classes have been focussing on the religious orders that founded schools in Hobart. We have learnt that the main orders were the Presentation Sisters, the Sisters of St Joseph’s and the Sisters of Charity.  We are learning about how they used the fruits of the Spirit to make a real difference to those in need. At the end of this term, the Year 5 and 6 students will have a Winter Woolies day to raise awareness for the work of an organisation that makes a difference in our communities.

Digital Technologies

Grade 5/6 students have been exploring block based coding using Scratch. They have been working through some games such as Ghost Catcher, Boat Race and Brain Game. Students have learnt how to create new sprites (characters), change backgrounds, create sound, create a chatbox, create a variable to score and time a game, use iteration (to repeat a piece of code) and to make sprites move. We are moving towards creating our own games.
