Young Leaders Program

Written By: Newsletter Team

Each week we are focusing on one of the APS Young Leader Teams and this week we introduce to you the library team. We have selected Katie and Allan as representatives of the Library Team and asked them some questions about what they do each Wednesday afternoon in our Young Leaders Program.

What do you do each week on Wednesday afternoon?

Katie: “We clean the school’s library to make it neat and tidy for students to read comfortably, we also talk about goals that we can achieve as the library young leader group”.

Allan: “As a library monitor, my job is to clean the libraries and put them up to full potential for people to be able to read neatly. We also categorise the books in school libraries to suit all ages”.

Why do you think this group is important for students at Albanvale Primary School?

Katie: “It helps students concentrate better in reading and it helps improve their education, so they can find just right books for their level and help them feel comfortable when reading in the library”.

Allan: “We are doing this to make this school a comfortable environment and making reading more entertaining for little kids and older kids. As a lover of reading, I personally believe that all students should have an opportunity to find and discover their interest in genres as well as authors”.

What is your favourite part of being in this group?

Katie: “I love making posters and cleaning the libraries. Cleaning the libraries can feel good and can help our school community find reading more entertaining and joyful”.

Allan: “I enjoy this because I love helping people and our school community. We clean shelves, organise books and sort out the books so people can easily find their levels and make reading more fun!”.
