5/6 Winter Gala- Netball

Winter Gala Day 2023

Congratulations to our amazing grade 5/6 mixed netball teams for being overall school champions at last Friday’s Winter Gala Day. The Altona Sporting Centre hosted this very competitive event which saw 5 schools in the West Gate region compete against each other in a round robin style netball competition. In the lead-up to the competition our teams practised hard during their PE lessons, and polished their skills on Friday afternoons with Miss Marissa and Miss C.

From all the staff here at St. Augustine’s, we couldn’t be prouder of the way our teams conducted themselves on and off the court. Your dedication and competitiveness were amazing and we now look forward to a further district competition in Term 3 for our mixed A team!

Mr. Tony

The Division A team won the Grand Final match. The two Division C teams came FIRST and SECOND. Hard work, team work and determination was a great part of the day!

GO St Augustine's!!

5/6 Winter Sleep Out

The second Winter Sleep Out was a great success. All money raised by the students will go straight to St Vincent de Paul Charities. The focus for the sleepout was not only "sleeping roughing" but to remember those less fortunate than ourselves. The students were without the luxuries of phones, dinner plates, comfortable beds and pajamas, instead they slept on the floor with a thin yoga mats and the warmest clothes they owned.

A big thank you to all students who participated as well as supervising teachers, Mr Stead, Miss Paglianiti, Mrs C and Miss Marissa.

This year we raised over $2000.

5/6 Immigration Museum Excursion

The 5/6 students consolidated their learning about Australian Migration and travelled by train to the Immigration Museum.

They studied different influential people who migrated to Victoria to start a better life. The students also had an opportunity to explore the museum and learn about different migration phases such as Gold Rush, post WWII and post Vietnam War.

Italian across the levels: What's happening?

Preps are working with their buddies, Year 1/2 children are reading and writing independently in Italian, Year 3/4  children are working on ‘Ciao Italia’ research projects and Year 5/6 children are working on 'Stop Motion' projects. The children continue to work on all projects.  Another successful term with lots of amazing, creative ideas and great teamwork!  Miss Paglianiti

Prep-2 Wild animal incursion

Last week the Yr 1/2s & Preps had a wild encounter with some very cool creatures. We were able to hear many facts about them and experience them like never before. The Yr 1/2s heard many cool and interesting facts and learnt about their life cycles and reproduction. What a wonderful way to finish off our learning about animals and how wonderful they are! We also really enjoyed celebrating the Biggest Morning! We congratulate all our students in Yr 1/2 on their success and achievements this Term. We wish all our students and families a safe break. Dina, Milan & Natalie

Farewell Miss Maher. We hope that you a wonderful trip and cannot wait to hear all about your travels. Stay safe and Bon Voyage. We will all miss you. Take lots of photos!!!

From all the 3/4 students, Mrs Witchell and Miss Jones
