Year 4 Urban Gardening

Our Market Stall

On Friday 16th June the Year 4 students held their first urban garden market stall.

The students harvested parsley, thyme and lemons from our veggie garden for the stall.

Thank you to the staff members that donated rhubarb and lemons and a very big thank you to Margaret Eaves who donated all the potted succulents, they were a hit.

Earlier in the term the students potted up individual cos lettuce plants that had been growing in our garden bed, ready to sell at the market.

The Year 4 students were very excited about the stall, as a result 12 students helped sell the produce after school. We made $130, the money will be used to buy some fruit trees,  which will be planted behind the 2H classroom by the Year 4 students in the next few weeks.  Our next job is to plant tomato, basil, cucumber and marigold seeds so we have seedlings ready for Spring.

During term 3, the students will be learning about the importance of worms and the wonderful job they do to invigorate our garden beds and help the environment.
