School Sport 2023

School Sports

On Thursday 8th June, I travelled to Melbourne to take part in a National Basketball competition. This experience was rewarding and gave me some idea of how other states play. It was a good opportunity to also see how other teams use different tactics in how they play their game of basketball. We played multiple games during the competition against some very skilful teams, however didn’t my team and I didn't let that stop us. I was able to support my team by showing care and concern by motivating and encouraging them to keep playing their best basketball. I met lots of new people and was able to work on my basketball skills ready for future competitions.

On the 24th June, I participated in the South Australian Diving competition (all ages). Where I won gold for Level 1 platform. The competition was really fun as not only did you get to participate but you got to watch the other competitors compete. I was nervous because I didn’t know what place I had come to, but when I found out, I was filled with a sense of joy and excitement. Next term I will compete in another competition where I hope to compete in the level above and bring home another gold medal!

On the 24th June, I participated in the Starplex Swimming Carnival, where I won gold for 50m freestyle and bronze for 100m freestyle for 11/12-year-olds. I was nervous about my race as I had not placed in 2 of the 4 races as I was not getting my best times. I persisted through by believing in myself and blocking out my nerves and pushing through the rest. I am extremely proud of my achievements and hope to be successful in my next swimming meet.

During Week 8 of Term 2, I participated in the Airport District SAPSASA Netball competition. My team and I placed second overall, winning 7 out of the 9 games we played. I was lucky enough to receive a silver medal for my contribution to the team. I played goal attack, centre and wing attack. I had a lot of fun, made new friends and built stronger connections with those I play club with (who also participated in the carnival). I am very proud of myself for all of my efforts to make the team and contribute to a successful result.

During Week 8 of term 2, I participated in the Airport District SAPSASA Netball competition. My team and I placed first overall in the Div 1 category, winning 9 out of the 9 games that we played. I was super lucky to win a gold medal for my contribution to the team. The positions that I played were goal attack, goal shooter, wing defence and wing attack. During this time I had a lot of fun and I have made a whole heap of new friends and built stronger connections with them all. I am super proud of myself and our team for the whole outcome and such a great result.

Jax and Jadien participated in the Airport District SAPSASA Football clinic (during week 3 of Term 2). The boys were lucky enough to play together where they competed in 9 games across three days; winning 7 of them. They were fortunate enough to place third overall and received certificates for their participation. Both Jax and Jaiden had a great time as they made new friends, got to practise their football skills and persisted through challenges.

Congratulations to all these wonderful students on their achievements and for representing LNPS!
