7 - 9 News

 Tracy Peters, Senior School Principal

What an amazing start to the year we have had!

We welcomed 140 new year 7s in to our Senior School last Friday and 300 Yrs 8 and 9s on Monday. It has been an extremely smooth start to the year and students have hit the ground running and dived straight into their learning.

Our High Achievers Program  (HAP) has begun well.  We have been lucky enough to engage with some High Performing Engineers to assist the students from 7-9, to work in teams to compete in the F1 challenge this year. They will also be participating in online classes with award winning students in Tasmania.  We are really excited to be implementing this program for the first time at PCC.

The elective program for Year 8s and 9s began this week.  Can we please ask families to check COMPASS and ensure all elective payments are made asap. These costs assist us with developing the elective program and we cannot offer high quality electives without this money. We have invested money to set up the program but we need your assistance to keep it going.  If you are having difficulties making this payment please contact the office to arrange a payment plan.

Our Year 7 camp is fast approaching. Camp will be held at Camp Cooriemungle and will have a strong focus on building students study habits, exam preparation and time management.  Students will also have a strong focus on building their resilience and strong relationships with their homeroom teachers.

Year 8 and 9 camps will be organised shortly.  Our Yr 8s will attend a week long Snow Camp and the Yr 9s will participate in a City Experience. Stay tuned for more information.

Also this term we will be conducting Parent teacher interviews. These will be held online.  Further information on date and process for booking in to see teachers will be sent home shortly.

I look forward to working with you all this year to develop amazing independent learners.
