Last year was a challenging one for us all. Covid brought with it many challenges, but also many opportunities to slow down and appreciate what we have as individuals, families and as a nation. Thanks to the huge effort of all Victorians and Australians as a whole we are now in a much safer position than many other countries around the world.

We are excited to have our parents back on site at drop off and pick up times. Please remember that at this stage:

  • Parents are not permitted inside the buildings without an appointment.
  • All adults and secondary school students must wear a mask.
  • Visitors to our site must not stay on site for more than 15 minutes.

To ensure we create positive relationships and partnerships we encourage parents to discuss any concerns, queries or celebrations with their child’s teacher/s.

Last Year the Point Cook College Council put our uniform contract out to tender. Our contract with Noones had expired. DET good practice guidelines encourage school councils to put all contracts out to tender to ensure we are getting value for money for all. After a fair and equitable process, PSW were awarded the contract.

Staff, students and parents were represented throughout the tender process, by members of the college council. In awarding the contract to PSW college council acknowledged previous requests from parents and students. These included,

  • Having some plain, non- branded pieces of uniform that could be purchased at Department stores, whilst maintaining signature pieces too.
  • Ensuring uniform was of a high quality.
  • Streamlining the number of pieces to choose from.
  • Maintaining the school colours; navy, sky-blue, gold/yellow.
  • Having a modern look.

PSW will begin providing the uniform to our community in Term 2. The colour palate will stay the same, but the new provider will be designing new and exciting options. A new dress fabric will be used by PSW and the school skirt will change to a plain navy. Other new pieces will include Polo shirts, jackets and House Polo shirts. In the coming weeks we will be able to share the full range of PSW designs.

In saying that the current uniform will be able to be worn. We will not be moving to compulsory wearing of the “PSW provided” uniform until the beginning of the 2023 school year. This gives all families 2 years to out-grow their current uniforms.

We acknowledge that moving to a new uniform supplier is a complex process. We do not want to place undue stress on families, which is why we are maintaining the school colours and having a lengthy transition to the new provider.

Please keep in mind that there is no pressure to purchase new uniform until 2023.

Yours sincerely,

Mandy O'Mara
