Calrossy Music
The Calrossy Music Departments busy Term 4
With easing COVID restrictions throughout Term 4, our Music students in both the Junior and Secondary school were finally able to begin polishing their performances to showcase at Lunchtime Concerts, Presentation Days, recordings for Calrossy In Concert and busking at Centrepoint Shopping Centre.
Many of these ensembles were recorded for our virtual Carols service with the students enjoying the opportunity to learn about the process of recording with appropriate microphones and cameras with our recording guru Mr Alwyn Aurisch. To watch the Calrossy In Concert Virtual Performance, click here
Week 7, Thursday Nov 26, our Primary Choir and Concert Band performed to their appreciative peers in the Primary Lunchtime Concert. Our Choir sang beautifully, ‘On a Starlit Night’ a partner song to Silent Night and Aussie Jingle Bells ably accompanied by Mr Wett.
Following the choir, our fantastic Concert Band performed three pieces;
‘Chorale No 1’, ‘Iko Iko’ and ‘Jingle Bells’. The audience joined in with singing and clapping to make this one of the memorable lunchtimes for the year!
We then moved inside to watch several of our musicians perform in solos, duets, trios and quartets. Thank you to these students and their private tutors for an entertaining concert. We look forward to many more next year!

Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) results for 2020
Many of our students completed their AMEB Music examinations online and or live at the end of Term 3, all passing with excellent results. These are rigorous and significant achievements for all of these students especially as many were unable to practise for long periods of time due to COVID restrictions.
We celebrate with the following students who shared their successes with us. (We also congratulate many more who completed their exams through the Conservatorium of Music or outside tutor)
Year 4 – Joe Laurie; Grade 1 trumpet, Henry Turner; Grade 2 trombone
Year 7 – Eva Davies, Dimity Laurie, Annabel Scott and Rasika Sudhahar; Grade 3 clarinet
Albert Smyth, Oscar Turner; Grade 4 trumpet
Year 8 – Alistair Scott; Grade 8 pianoforte (receiving an A+!)
Bringing Christmas Cheer to shoppers
The Calrossy Secondary Jazz band and 9/10 Elective Music students had a lovely time busking for charity and brought some Christmas cheer to the shoppers of Centrepoint Shopping Centre as part of their community service. Thank you to everyone involved.
