New House colours for 2021

Parents will be aware that we have retired the 11 existing houses (from Primary, Secondary Boys and Secondary Girls) and the history of each will be recorded and maintained in our official archives. The new P - 12 houses have been established and will officially commence next year.

Following consultation with our students and a survey the colours of our four new Houses has been decided and can be seen below. The rationale for the colours can be partly explained:

  • Cuthbert House - named after Betty Cuthbert – multiple gold medalist, proud Australian representative and advocate for disability
  • Hamlin House – named after Dr Catherine Hamlin, founder of the Addis Abbaba Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia and a champion of cultural diversity and dignity for all people
  • Nicholls House – named after Sir Douglas Nicholas, the first Australian Indigenous Governor, a  Christian charitable worker and AFL player – showing colours from the Indigenous flag and the Essendon team
  • Sheean House – named for Teddy Sheean, announced last week as a winner of the Victoria Cross for his bravery in the Royal Australian Navy - blue as a representation of the ocean and sky
