A note from Mr Jackson

Thanks Volunteers

Today teachers took timeout to say thanks to our volunteers. In many ways, our mums and dads as well as our carers and grandparents, sisters and brothers all took a step forward to volunteer to spend time with students during home learning. Today was a small thank you from all our staff for their role in shaping our community.

Changes to Restrictions

We are happy to confirm that with further easing of restrictions announced on the weekend, adults are no longer required to wear masks while onsite unless they are unable to physically distance. Having said that, we understand that there may be adults who wish to ensure the ongoing safety of all and wear a mask.

2021 Class Teachers

Today we announced to our volunteers, our teaching structure that will support learning into 2021. As explained previously, we have added another class to ensure our class sizes are minimised for this year as a response to COVID. This will enhance the opportunity for teachers to differentiate learning and target students who have had great difficulty in our COVID year.

Our three Prep class teachers will be Kylie Smith, Matt Buckley as well as Heidi Yule and Taya Eddy who will share a class.

As you will be aware, our Year 1 and Year 2 classes have been structured to support our young students who have had such a disruptive initial year of learning. Our Year 1 teachers will be Claire Rowell and Anita Simpson with a shared class, as well as Natalie Richardson and Celeste Watts. Our Year 2 teachers are Shannon Mitchell and Eleanor Kaiser.

Our 2/3/4 team will be made up of Kate Arnot and Leah Ryan with a shared class, along with Jenelle Dellios, Bron Taylor and Laura Hicks who we welcome to Rosanna Primary.

The three 5/6 classes will be taught by Hayley Murray, Rebecca French and Caitlin Wheeler.

Our specialist teaching team will continue to be led by Sharyn Martinussen (Visual Arts), Leeann Sartorel (Italian), Kelli Zealley and Krystal Rosbrook (Physical Education) and Jendi Bright (Music).

Our learning support team will be made up of Krista Scott, Nadia Tarquinio, Leah Ryan and Sophie Cartelli.

Our Educational Support team, who are great supporters of students in the classroom, continue to include Rhonda Lewis, Michelle Woolacott, Lara Hunter and Sharon Henderson. Sharon Hunter continues behind the Canteen bench, while Ally Stokes and Kim Brydson-Dixon ensure the office and school business is attended to.

Not only are many of our teachers shifting across the school, but the areas will be located in different spaces. The key changes will see the Year 1 and Year 2 classes in the administration block and the 2/3/4 Area in the classrooms above the admin offices.

We are fortunate to have a great teaching and learning team focused on student learning next year. Teachers will join with their new 2021 class on Monday during a Meet the Teacher session that will continue to prepare students to transition towards 2021.

We sadly will bid farewell to Susan Peterson who will return to Kerrimuir, her base school. We wish her well and thank her for her valuable contribution over the year.

2021 Dates

Last week we included a calendar of 2021 events. It has been included in this week’s newsletter as well. Our teachers return on Wednesday 27 January and Thursday 28 January to prepare for the coming year. Students in Year 1 to Year 6 will begin on Friday 29 January. Our new 2021 Preps will have their first day of primary education on Monday 1 February. Our new Prep students with siblings at the school already, will arrive at 9:00am, while all those new to the school will begin at 9:30am.

Final Day Times

On the final day of school we’re excited to announce we will have our final assembly outside at 12:45pm!! All are welcome to join us. If you are having difficulty physically distancing you are required to wear a mask.

The day will finish at 1:30pm. Please ensure your child is picked up by 1:45pm at which time there will be no supervision provided.

Best Wishes to Our Graduates

Our thoughts are with our graduating students tonight. Transitioning from primary to secondary is a significant experience and after such a difficult year they have proven that they are ready for this step. Thanks to our 4/5/6 teaching team who have changed and tweaked our graduation as each restriction has been added and then eased. They have kept the students engaged in the planning and ensured that the evening will be a celebration of learning and education.
