Welcome

Hello there P-2 families!  What an amazing start we have had to the year!  Students have settled into daily classroom routines and structures extremely well!  It is exciting to see and hear about all engaging activities happening in all P-2 classes across the College. 

3-way Conferences

This term all students participated in 3-way Conferences. It was a wonderful opportunity for students and families to work together and talk about where to next in their learning.  Please continue to talk to your child about their learning and encourage them to share their learning goals with you. 

Reading

The P-2 Reading program is now in full swing.  Students are learning to; make predictions before they start reading a book, decode new and unfamiliar words, and talk about the books they are reading with their teachers and peers.  It is extremely important that all students continue to practice these skills at home.  All P-2 students are expected to read every night and record their reading in their school diary.  Please check that diaries are signed and reading satchels are brought to school every day.  Your support with this is much appreciated.

Helpful Hints for Home Reading

• Create reading rituals and read together everyday.
• Talk about the pictures and ask questions.
• Share different kinds of books.
• Read with expression.  Use silly voices and make the pages come to life.
• Snuggle up and read your book to a teddy, pet, sibling.
• Read favourite books again and again and again!
