Week 11 Term 1
Interschool Sports
Our students in Grade 5&6 have had a fantastic first term of inter school sports. It has been wonderful to observe students in each team working together, looking out for each other, and demonstrating the values of fair play and having a go. A special mention to our Boys Cricket Team who, at the time of writing, are un-defeated and a strong chance of progressing to the district finals, which will be held in Term 4!
Our Sports Explorer groups have just completed their two excursions, to the Croydon Bowls Club and Eastern Golf Course. It was, according to those who attended, a wonderful experience and great learning opportunity.
We thank our many parent volunteers who helped score, umpire, and manage students on the sidelines. This program is simply not able to run without the ongoing support of parent helpers.
Our Winter Interschool Sports program will commence on Friday, 13th May, in Term 2. Further information regarding teams and a call out for parent helpers will be communicated shortly.
Whole School Cross Country
Students are eagerly looking forward to our annual Whole School Cross Country, which will be held at the Wonga Park Reserve, on Thursday 5th May. Each classroom teacher has been providing students with an opportunity to train in preparation, here at school. It would be wonderful if students were able to continue training where possible throughout the school holidays.
In terms of the event itself, just a friendly reminder that payment and permission is due on Sentral by this Friday (8th April). We thank that many parents who have nominated to assist with scoring, marshalling and food preparation on the day.
If you have not yet nominated, but are able to assist, please fill in the survey link below:

Joggers Club
We have seen a wonderful turnout at Joggers Club this term, with between 60-70 students attending each week! The students have loved the opportunity to meet their friends early before school, run their laps and pursue their passions, all while getting in some exercise at the beginning of the day.
A very big congratulations to the following students who have received awards for their number of laps:
Xavier M 3A – 25 laps
Cade S 3B - 25 laps
Emily C 3B – 50 laps
Cooper P 3B – 50 laps
Lenny D 4B - 25 laps
Liam S 5B - 125 laps
Kaylee B 5C – 25 laps
Sam S 5C – 50 laps
Harvey 5C – 150 laps
These certificates will be handed out to students at assembly.
A big thank you to those parents who have been able to lend a hand and assist each week with the recording of laps, keeping the students on the track and also cheering them on! Another thank-you goes to those parents who have kindly brought their children to school early, allowing them to participate in Joggers Club each week!
We are always welcoming students along to Joggers Club. Come and meet Mrs Lewin every Tuesday morning (weather permitting) at 8:25am at the basketball courts. Looking forward to seeing you there!
Senior Choir
Congratulations to all the Senior Choir students who participated in the Warrandyte Festival a couple of weeks ago. They sang beautifully and were wonderful representatives of our school community! Thankyou to all the families who came to support them and enjoy the entertainment. It was a beautiful day to be by the river!
Both the Junior and Senior Choirs are looking forward to singing again at the WPPS Anzac Day Ceremony on the first Wednesday back of Term 2, at 2.30pm. They also have something special planned for all the Mums at the Mother's Day Brekky coming up.

Harmony Day
As a part of Wonga Park Primary School's Harmony Day celebrations on the 21st March, a day which recognises Australia's cultural diversity, the students contributed to a Collaborative Colouring Project. It was a special day for all and a wonderful to see so many students involved.
Grade 1 & 2 Box Challenge
Our "This is a box but it isn't a box" challenge is now complete. Students completed a simple self assessment and reviewed another class member's creation and told them something we liked on their creation, gave them a tip we felt might be able to help them and then ended giving some words of encouragement.

Grade 3 - 6 Puppet Challenge
Our Puppet Challenge is complete. Students completed a self assessment and gave written feedback to someone else in class about their design and final prototype.
We discussed how to ensure our feedback is always helpful and not harmful.
