Swimming Carnival 2023

At our school swimming carnival we had a school record broken. Congratulations to Lucie Purkiss for breaking the 12/13yrs 100m freestyle record. The previous record was 1.48.45 and Lucie's new record 1.26.00. Well done Lucie!

If you were unable to attend the carnival, please watch this video below that was captured by Mr Berman (our new ICT technician for 2023) using the school's drone. What a fantastic way to recap the day! Thanks also to Ava Marzato (6J) for providing the excellent voice-over narration.

Polding Trials

Last Friday we saw four of our students travel to Lismore to trial in Tennis (Jackson Hicks), Cricket (Cooper Jones) and Basketball ( Barry Robinson & Koby Fenwick) for Polding sides. A huge congratulations to Cooper Jones for being selected in the Boys Polding Cricket side.

NRL

Yesterday we were lucky enough to have Alan Tongue, former Canberra Raiders player, and Simi Sasagi from the Newcastle Knights visit the Primary Campus. The two are part of the NRL’s “League Stars Inspire Health and Wellbeing” Tour.

Their goal is to form a close alignment between what children learn in school about health and physical education and what the game provides, both on and off the field. The NRL INSPIRE – respect, health & wellbeing and inclusion/diversity program aims to provide interactive learning experiences that inspire our young people. The aim is to inspire primary school-aged children to develop and apply the knowledge and understandings, skills, attitudes and values that are central to these three focus areas – using the great game of rugby league as both a background to and the vehicle for engaging learning experiences.

It was a highly engaging experience which allowed the students to, not only participate verbally, but they were also involved in some fun hands-on activities.

Netball

Details on how to register for the St Edward's Netball Club coming soon. Please keep checking the newsletter for more information.

OzTag

Last weekend Madeline Noad, Sienna Erich and Ivy Allan made their way to Sydney to play OzTag for the Tamworth Taipans under 10's, all the girls did so well.

Hockey

Peyton, Martha and Gabby have been training hard since last year for the Centre of Development with Hockey NSW. They have a 3 day tournament coming up this weekend in Newcastle. Good luck girls, we are looking forward to hearing all about it.

If you are interested in playing, please register. Unfortunately we don't have enough students interested to make a team this year.

OzTag

If your child is interested in playing OzTag and you haven't already registered, please do so at https://tamworthjuniors.oztag.com.au/ for all relevant information. All registrations are online and our 10yr old teams have codes allocated to them. Games will start on Wednesday 8th February and teams that have 8 players fully registered by Friday 3rd February will be in the draw.

Please use the following specific codes, then use the individual codes for the others. Tamworth OzTag have added a question in the individual nominations: 'what school is the child from', so that they can form St Eds teams if we have enough. Below are specific codes for the under 10s team. If you are in this age group and have already signed up individually, you will be added to this team.
