Prep

The Preps have been exploring and describing the attributes of two-dimensional shapes. They have used shape attribute blocks to create a picture using squares, rectangles, triangles and circles. The students were very creative with the shapes. During our gallery walk, I was very impressed with them during our gallery walk because they all identified the shapes in their pictures and could explain their differences and similarities. We went on a Shape Hunt to look for shapes in our school environment, and the students had the opportunity to be photographers with iPads and photograph the different shapes.

Each day we begin our maths block with counting games, ordering numbers and practising our counting number sequence forwards and backwards. These activities allow students to work alongside their peers and develop mathematical skills and language.

Faith Inquiry

We have started to unpack the statement 'what shapes our identity'. During the term, the students will investigate the identity of their classroom peers. Everyone is looking forward to presenting and discussing their Identity Box with the class.

Last week we had a visit from Father Chinua, the parish priest at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church. On Friday afternoon, we will visit the church and discuss the different symbols and artifacts in the church. The students have been providing ideas for our classroom prayer.
