Mid-Term Break

It's hard to believe we are already halfway through the term.  We trust you all had a restful break and were able to reset, ready for the remainder of Term 1.

OLNA

Last week, we had our first round of OLNA which is an online literacy and numeracy assessment. It is designed to enable students to successfully meet the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) requirement of demonstrating the minimum standard of literacy and numeracy.  Students have four opportunities to sit OLNA while in the educational system and at the College, we provide additional support in this area. Thank you to our Education Assistants (Ms Lola and Ms Christopherson) who have helped our students prep for this assessment.

Assessment Absences

As per the College Guidelines (p.26), it is your responsibility to contact your teacher if you are absent and arrange for an alternative time to sit the assessment.  If you know you are going to be away or leaving early when a test is scheduled, speak with your teacher prior to the assessment.  This would be expected in the workplace if you were to meet a deadline and knew you were taking leave that day.  If you have an unexpected absence (sickness, injury, emergency), make contact with your teacher as soon as possible - we understand things happen and will happily accommodate.

Drones

Our Year 12 Drones students have commenced their online learning unit for their Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) which will allow them to fly drones outside of private property and use in future employment opportunities.  Part of the requirements of the course is to have 5 hours of flying time; at the end of each session, we take our mini Tello drones into the Rec Centre to practice our manoeuvres.

Follow the Dream program

The Cunderdin Follow the Dream students went to Northam Senior High School on 1 March 2023 for a visit.  Five students went along and represented the program and engaged in designing a NAIDOC day shirt for our College, in collaboration with the Northam students. The girls were very inspired by the Follow the Dream space at Northam and are actively pursuing future opportunities to link in with these students.
