There has been lots happening in the Careers & Pathways space over the past few weeks. Year 9 students have completed their Morrisby Testing in their HRC classes and have been involved in one-on-one unpacking sessions with careers consultants to discuss their individual Morrisby profiles and explore pathway, course and subject options.

The objective of this process is to provide students with a measure of their innate strengths so they can use this knowledge to help them choose subjects and careers which match their natural abilities. It is an exciting time for our Year 9s as they are guided through thinking about their future possibilities and the consultants have been very impressed with the respect, manners and maturity demonstrated by our students. Please continue these career conversations at home and ask what aptitudes were uncovered in your student’s authentic profile.

Individual pathway check ins have also begun with our Year 12 cohort. These catch ups will continue to happen over the next few weeks. Please ensure that if you have a student in Year 12 you encourage them to use our Careers homepage to begin some pathway and VTAC course research. You can access this page via the Star then Career Tools on our Compass homepage.

As always, please get in touch if you need career or pathway guidance.

ALUMNI

The Western Heights College Alumni Program is excitedly moving into its next phase of development at our school.

Since the program's establishment in 2020, we have been provided with an Alumni Program Coordinator employed by Ourschool (an education charity) for two days a week to reconnect our school with our past students.

2022 was the Alumni Program's most successful year yet! We welcomed 28 past students back to speak to almost 1300 WHC students last year. Take a look at our achievements in the infographic:

Now in 2023, we've moved our program to the next level by employing our very own Alumni Program Coordinator for four days a week to continue growing the program from strength to strength, and assist in other areas of the College. We'll continue to receive access to Ourschool's alumni program resources and support network.

If you are a past student of Western Heights College or any of our founding schools (Bell Park HS, Bell Park SC, Geelong West TS) then please get in touch with Jennifer Chiu at alumni@whc.vic.edu.au. We'd love to hear from you!
