Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

Thank you to all those families who joined us for Afternoon Tea on Tuesday.  It was great to have so many families coming together and having the opportunity to connect as a school community.  A big thank you to Mel for her coordination and to all classes and the OSHC team for their combined effort in catering and assisting with the set up and pack up of this event.

Thank you also to everyone who participated in making our shared art piece, which has so many lovely comments!  For any families who didn't get to join us, there is still an opportunity to add your heart to the mural, by stopping by the office.

School Council Elections are now underway! Thank you to those individuals who have already nominated for School Council.  This year we have four parent vacancies.  If you would like to nominate, please complete the online nomination form sent out on the School Council page of this newsletter by this Friday, 17th February. In the event that we have more than four nominations, a vote will be held.

Students in Years 3-6 completed the nomination process for our Student Representative Council (SRC) this week.  As our current SRCs come to the end of their term, I would like to take this opportunity to extend a big thank you to our outgoing members: Sunni (left), Lucas (left), Amahlie, Cleo, Mack, Sebastian and Zelk.   It has been wonderful to see these students grow in confidence as leaders and take pride in their representation of our school.  My thanks also to the remaining members for their ongoing leadership this year and for their support of the new SRC as they transition into this role of the coming weeks.  Our new SRC will be announced at Monday's morning assembly.

Tomorrow, 15 students from Years 3-6 will head to Wodonga to participate in the Division Swimming event.  As we wish the swimmers all the very best for this event, I would also like to thank Steph for all her organisation, as well as all attending parents for their support with transport and supervision.

Fundraising is back on the agenda this year and we are looking for volunteers who would like to form part of a working committee.  There's always lots to do and this year, we are working towards improving the safety of our playground by leveling and resurfacing our asphalt play area, particularly our netball/basketball areas and undercover area.  Once this is done, we will be able to install the new basketball rings

everyone has been waiting for!  In the coming months, there will also be some minor upgrades to the BER building (also our Shelter in Place), to bring it in line with current bushfire regulations.  In addition, School Council has been working towards an extension to the bike shed.   Some external

painting to freshen up the look of our school is also also on the agenda and of course we are still looking to purchase more books for our student and teacher resource libraries.

If you would have some time to help us raise some more funds toward our grounds and curriculum resources, we would love to hear from you!

This year, all students will be participating in the Grow Your Mind program.  For more information about this, please refer to the slides below or check out the website, which also has parent resources.
