And now a word from

Mrs Richards...

It has been an action-packed beginning to the school year as the students in all grade levels worked on our Learning How To Learn programs that dominate the first two weeks.  Each team plan and deliver a range of grade level specific activities that enable us to set up expectations and protocols designed to ensure that the we are all ‘on the same page’ and that we have established a solid foundation upon which to base our work this year.

Activities obviously vary between grade levels but include:

  • Establishment of classroom organisational processes
  • Collaboration, discussion and development of classroom rules and expectations of students and teachers.  What is a learner? How do we learn best? What kind of learning community do we want our classroom/school to be? What do good learners know? What do they do? What are my roles and responsibilities as a learner? How can I ensure my learning is ongoing?
  • Revision and ‘unpacking’ of the Super Six Values – Respect, Resilience, Responsibility, Excellence, Integrity and Co-operation
  • Introduction/Revision of Zones of Regulation
  • Introduction of formalised lessons as part of the Rights, Resilience and Respectful Relationships Program
  • Establishment of norms for acceptable social behaviours and manners
  • Development of individual learning goals
  • Social games and team work activities as the new class are bought together as a team and get to know one another

In future newsletters we will further unpack the Super 6 values, Zones of Regulation and the RRRR program.

TIMETABLE

As you are aware we are operating a slightly different timetable this year that operates on 50 minute sessions.

YARD DUTY AND CLUBS

During outside breaks there are 3 yard duty teachers outside at all times. These teachers monitor designated areas to ensure supervision in all yard spaces and they wear orange vests for visibility. Lunchtime clubs also operate in the longer break at 1.50pm.
