Hello from the new Heathmont College School Council for 2022!
School Holidays are over, which were much needed by all after a very long Term 1, but it also meant that we didn't hold an April council meeting, although there's certainly been enough to keep us very busy.
You might recall that we put the call out for this years' Annual General Meeting back in March. The AGM was held on the evening of the 29th of March, and while unfortunately we didn't see any new faces on the night, thankfully all current parent members re-nominated, so we have only just been able sneak a person into every role again for 2022.
As council we’re proud that we’ve been able to support and endorse plenty of building & grounds works, as they continue to improve our facilities around the school.
One item of business for school council was to re-instate a Buildings & Grounds Sub-Committee as well. With so much change & improvement continuing around the school, it’s crucial that we have a subcommittee in place that can focus on all this work. If you’ve been interested in getting involved in School Council, and Buildings & Grounds work is something that interests you or you feel you can contribute to, it’s not too late to join the subcommittee. Please contact the School Office for more information.
Heathmont College invited all prospective Year 7 students to our annual Open Night, and by all accounts the night was very successful. Council members supported the night with a very popular sausage sizzle, and we received a lot of positive feedback about the Open Night tours as we were handing out the snags. Great to see such a large turnout, and a huge thank you should go to all the staff & students who made the night so successful.
This year it’s now been 4 years since our last Independent School Review, which means we’re due to be reviewed again this year. The review measures the school's performance against our last “School Strategic Plan” (SSP) and the outcomes of the review will feed into our next SSP. There will be a lot of work on this review over the coming weeks, which will involve many staff, council members, and external reviewers. This is a very positive & worthwhile exercise for the school, and it will be very interesting to see the outcomes of the review.
We've had a busy start to the year in School Council, and there's still much more to come…
Thanks for reading.
