ABORIGINAL SUMMER SCHOOL FOR EXCELLENCE IN TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE (ASSETS)

Congratulations to Alexandra Ingram who has been selected to participate in the upcoming 2020 Aboriginal Summer School for Excellence in Technology and Science (ASSETS).

Alexandra is among 70 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who have been selected to attend the program from across the country to learn more about science, technology, engineering and mathematics as well as delving deeper into their culture and identity.

The students selected for the ASSETS program are all high-achieving individuals.  ASSETS is part of the Indigenous STEM Education Project funded by BHP Foundation and delivered by CSIRO.

PARENT MEETING REGARDING HOMEGROUP

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting students and their learning, we invite parents / carers to attend a brief information session about Homegroup.

When: Thursday 14 November

Time: 4:30pm - 5:30pm

Where: Marian Centre

Homegroup is a valuable part of the day, offering students an opportunity to build strong relationships with peers from all year groups and their Homegroup Teacher. It is with this spirit in mind, that we want feedback on what an ideal Homegroup environment looks and feels like and what an ideal Homegroup teacher does.

The meeting on 14 November will allow parents / carers to contribute their views around the best use of Homegroup as a place for conversations that support student learning and wellbeing. This feedback from parents, as well as from students and staff will shape a way forward in further enhancing Homegroup as a time to strengthen our learning culture at Mater Dei.
