Student Portfolios

On Friday your child will bring home their Student Portfolio. The teachers and children have been working hard over the Term and the portfolio gives families a chance to celebrate the learning their child has achieved.

What is the Student Portfolio?

The Student Portfolio is a compilation of a child’s learning. It is an integral component of our assessment and reporting process and demonstrates the child’s achievement. It is a way of sharing between child and parent, the child’s learning experiences, growth and future learning goals. The Student Portfolio is a valuable tool for parents to use with their child to discuss and celebrate their learning journey.

Why is it important?

The Student Portfolio is aimed at:

  • Communicating achievement/progress to parents and child
  • Celebrating a child’s learning journey
  • Assisting parents in helping children at home
  • Linking the Student Report to samples of student work
  • Being a reflective tool with and for students
  • Promoting discussion
  • Recording progress

The portfolio will be sent home each term and will include annotated and reflective samples of the child’s work across a range of learning areas. It provides opportunities for students to self assess and set goals for their future learning.

At the end of the portfolio there is a parent comment section. We hope that you can take the time to reflect on your child's learning so far and write a comment to them about their work and learning.
