Food Technology

There has been a variety of classes across all year levels so far this semester cooking some amazing food. Food such as fruit kebabs to teach knife skills, sushi to introduce students to international cuisine and cake making while celebrating special events.

Middle school students are enjoying working in the brand new kitchens with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment in their Neighbourhoods. Senior students have had the opportunity to work in a fully equipped hospitality kitchen, in the enterprise building.

VET hospitality students enjoy real industry practices each week, taught by experienced staff.

Digital Technology

Currently the focus across most of Digital Technology is on understanding code and how to communicate and control technology. The Year 7 and 8 classes are learning about binary language and how the CPU and GPU, of a computer, processes all information as only 1’s and 0’s. Below are some examples of the students working on creating 1-bit 3-bit or 12-bit pixel art, only using binary.

Woodwork

In keeping with the schools focus on 21st Century learning, Greater Shepparton Secondary College has invested in a CNC multi cam router. The machine is the same as many of the manufacturing industries in Shepparton, giving our students a head start when job seeking. The machine is capable of cutting sheets 2400 x 1200 with exceptional accuracy. Students will be skilled in its uses and will become confident in it’s operation.

This machine, along with the 3D printers, emblazer and any future CNC machines that we purchase, is driven by the Auto-Desk program Fusion 360. This program is an industry standard, the students are fortunate to be able to use the education version of this program for free, as long as they are enrolled at school. Watch for progress!

In Year 10 Furniture Making class students have been busy making some useful items. Maya chose to design and make a phone holder and used the emblazer to engrave her Logo.
