Year 12 VCE - Tertiary Information Service Event

Year 12 VCE students had the opportunity to attend the TIS - Tertiary Information Service event on Monday 2 May. TIS is an event that promotes further education as an option for secondary students when they leave school. Speakers presented information about what students could expect at university, looked at costs involved, accommodation options, scholarships and supports available.

After the presentation student were able to mingle with representatives from Victorian and New South Wales based universities and TAFE who gave their time to answer student enquires about courses. Lots of undergraduate guides were eagerly taken along with other university branded goodies like pens, drink bottles and USBs. Good luck to those who entered competitions. It was a pleasure to take this enthusiastic bunch of students to this event.

All Year 12 students are encouraged to make an appointment to see their Careers Practitioner for a Careers Conversation about post Year 12 pathways. Careers staff have had many of these conversations already so if you are keen send them a message via TEAMs to book a time.

ANU - Australian National University visit

GSSC welcomed an Australian National University representative on Tuesday 3 May to talk to students about all the different undergraduate course available there. ANU is located in Canberra. If any Year 12 students are interested in applying for courses starting in 2023 they are advised to apply now and can do this directly with the university itself rather than via UAC. For more information see your careers practitioner.

Year 10 GM VICE Virtual Industry Career Experience

Students who have been studying the Careers elective 'So you want a job' have been participating in GMLLEN’s bespoke, online digital platform activities using special VR headsets. The experience gave students a 3D look at local skills shortages in 6 key industries along with providing information on local training pathways. The aim of this experience is to allow students to make more informed decisions about future career pathways. Lots of fun!
