Wellbeing

It has been a very busy start to Term 2 in Wellbeing. We have been lucky enough to run events and programs in person again which has been great to connect the Koonung community. We have a few things coming up this term for students and parents.

Parent Evening - Navigating your Teens Mental Health: Monday 30 May

Black Dog Institute Presents: Navigating your Teens Mental Health

Monday 30 May, 6pm-7pm (45 minute presentation and time for questions at the end)

We would like to invite all Koonung Secondary College parents and carers to an evening with the Black Dog Institute. This presentation equips parents and carers with the latest knowledge and tools to identify and support the mental health needs of teens. You will learn how to spot early warning signs of mental health issues, when and where to seek help and how to support a young person. Please join us for this presentation to improve the mental health and wellbeing of our school community. Please find the link for booking your free ticket to this event below.

Mindfulness Mondays with Headspace

Sara from Headspace joined us at Mindfulness Mondays last week to meet students and join in on some activities. Koonung is developing a relationship with Headspace Hawthorn and Sara will be rejoining us with Youth Advisory Group members for the next two Mindfulness Mondays to help us with some activities such as making keyrings and stress balls. Sara and the YAG will also be available to answer any questions anyone may have for them about what Headspace can do for young people and how students can join the YAG.

MAT Program

Rodrigo from the MAT program is joining us this term every Tuesday to teach some of our Year 9 and 10 students Martial Arts and personal development skills. The students have really enjoyed practicing their skills and bonding with each other.

Best of luck to everyone for Term 2!
