Specialists Updates and Celebrations

Messages from our Specialist team (P.E., STEAM, Music and Mandarin)...

P.E.

We are back online but we haven't lost our appetite for exercise! Preps, Grade 1 and Grade 2 have completed some very adventurous workouts over the last 2 weeks. I think the favourites so far are between the Minecraft Video Game workout and the stuffed animal workout. Here are some adorable photos of all our cuddly animal friends.

Athletics Day has been postponed to Term 4 - Friday, November 12th (Week 6).

(If you haven't checked Compass yet, please make sure you give consent.)

If you haven't already emailed to volunteer for Athletics Day and you'd like to, send an email through to Callum.Freel@southmelbourneps.vic.edu.au

STEAM

The Grade 3 & 4 students have been continuing to explore scientific concepts that are relevant to the Humpty Dumpty Challenge. They have learned about air resistance (drag), surface area, aerodynamics, thrust and lift. Last week we did a science experiment investigating how the surface area of a parachute affects the speed in which it travels. Over the next few lessons, the students will be designing their very own flying car.

Mandarin

The Grade 5 and 6 students have been learning the names of the special days. This week, we discussed birthday and Mandarin Day! We learned how to write in Pinyin as well as Chinese Characters for these two special days. We have also been very creative in designing our birthday cards and Mandarin Day Posters.
