Assistant Principals' Report

August 2021

What an extraordinary year it has been! We are now in week 7 of Term 3 and powering through 2021. Whilst all our lives have been upturned and plans have changed, we should all take time to reflect on what we have achieved and whilst not in our normal school environment, we believe we are continuing to learn many different skills, these could be mastering WebEx, keeping ourselves on track in class or some new hobbies that we are now doing during the times in isolation. We should not look upon the remote learning periods as a wasted year but take away all those new positive learning experiences.

Over the last few weeks we have seen the Olympic games conclude and the Paralympics start which was and is very exciting and inspirational.   Greensborough College Alumni, Matthew Temple, competed and won 2 Bronze Medals, he also took time out to make a short video for the whole school community. This video has been shared by Teachers during remote learning and it’s been on our social media pages, we encourage you watch it if you haven’t already done so.

Recently, our Senior School Captains wrote to all students, we thank them for keeping us all positive and reminding us that we will be back together again soon.

It’s important that we stay positive and engaged with school, over the last 2 weeks we have encouraged staff and students to participate in Book Week activities, Science Week Quiz, Year 7 Trivia, Music Comps, Scavenger Hunts, dress up for Book Week, Favourite Sports Team Colours Day and Wear it Purple Day.

We would like to thank and acknowledge our students for the work and effort that they continue to put into their learning and maintaining a connection with school.  It has been great to see the many efforts students are making to keep on top of their schoolwork and continuing social connections with their teachers and peers.

Thank you to our parents and carers, who continue to support their children with remote learning, often whilst juggling multiple demands, including their own work at the same time. Your ongoing support is invaluable, and we appreciate the support and direction you are providing to your children at home.

Finally, to our staff at Greensborough College, who continue to put our students first and who are working extremely hard to ensure students are given opportunity to remain connected to school, continue their learning and continually monitor the health and wellbeing of our students.

If you need assistance with any remote learning or computer technical issues, please contact our ICT team by email: help@greensc.on.spiceworks.com

Consideration of Educational Disadvantage (CED)

We know and understand that the move in and out of onsite learning throughout the year has impacted student learning, despite the best efforts of school staff, students, and parents/carers.  Given this situation, Consideration of Educational Disadvantage will again be a factor in determining final VCE and VCAL results for all students.  This process will consider the individual impact of coronavirus on each student so that their results are fair and reliable. The CED process is based on the impact at the student level for each and every student. Our team at Greensborough College is preparing for this process and will be contacting students about this very soon.

Take care and stay safe.
