Science Week / NAIDOC Fervor Visit

We had an amazing experience with Fervor at MDHS on Tuesday 17th August. They showed the students how to sous vide wattleseed ice cream then make it frozen by using liquid nitrogen. The use of a blowtorch to ensure it didn’t get too cold was also implemented! They also showed the students how to make quandong curd with smoke-infused butter and candied sandalwood nuts. The students got to taste fresh quandongs, native lemongrass, ice plant, and sandalwood nuts (all local to Mukinbudin). This event was open to parents and the community and we had numerous visitors come and enjoy the experience also.

This was all thanks to a National Science Week Grant, PALS grant and Federal NAIDOC grant.

Secondary Athletics Carnival

Today, Thursday 19th August, the Secondary students participated in a mini school carnival, where Green and Gold competed against each other. This prepares the students for the ESSA Athletics Carnival later in the term.

It's great to see how much the students encourage each other and cheer for their teammates and competitors. Well done to everyone who participated and gave it a go. Thanks again to Mrs Clarke for organising the carnival, giving our students the opportunity to compete and participate.

The winning faction for the day was GREEN on 228 points, defeating GOLD on 165 points.

The individual award winners were:

Open Girls Runner Up: Isabel Vernon - Green (33 points)

Open Girls Fairest & Best: Jayel Sobejko - Gold (43 points)

Open Boys Runner Up: Brian Abdullah - Green (41 points)
