Tips for parents and Carers during lockdown

Dear Parents and Carers,

At this uncertain and difficult time for many families in Shepparton and our School Community, it is really important to look after your wellbeing and your families’ wellbeing.

As well as practising general self-care strategies, such as, eating a healthy diet, regularly exercising, getting good quality sleep, practising relaxation and mindfulness, trying to find some things you can enjoy and maintaining social connections, we have put together a list of resources that may be helpful in giving you some ideas and suggestions to help you to care of yourself, the children and the people you love.

Supporting children’s mental health

Yesterday, Wednesday, 25th August, Dr Anthea Rhodes, Pediatrician at The Royal Children’s Hospital, facilitated a panel of experts in a live forum to talk about how you can support your child’s mental health throughout the pandemic and also beyond.

‘How do I be a good parent while supporting my child through remote learning?’

Wellbeing Officer, Michelle Black and I both watched the hour long session which was excellent, and we would highly recommend to Parents and Carers to find some time, relax with a cuppa and view the program on the links below. Doctor Ric Haslam referred to the issue of remote learning at home as ‘like trying to walk up a mountain and we need to take smaller steps’. The panel of doctors shared their expertise, professional insights and offered some practical tips during this time of lockdown, covering some of the following areas:
