Week 7 Term 3

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our thoughts and prayers extend to the people of Afghanistan. The recent news reports and horrific images of desperate people trying to flee persecution had been deeply disturbing. It is a reminder to us all that while we are experiencing another lockdown and tighter restrictions there are people who are worse off than us. We give thanks and gratitude for the freedom and liberties that we enjoy in Australia as a democratic country. 

We pray for peace in Afghanistan for the people.

A PRAYER FOR THE PEOPLE OF AFGHANISTAN

Dear Lord,

We lift the people of Afghanistan to you right now. 

We pray that you would take hold of them 

and help them walk through this fearful time. 

Protect them under your wing 

and help them fell the comfort and peace 

that only comes from your powerful presence.

Book Week – August 23rd-August 27th

This week all students will engage in Book Week incursions with real authors. They will also engage in literacy activities with their teacher using this year's Shortlisted Books. More information about Book Week can be found in the Learning and Teaching page of the newsletter. Please dress up as your favourite book character and join in the celebrations this Friday. 

Edward De Bono’s Yellow Hat -Positive hats-Community Action

All students will have some yellow cardboard hat templates in their learning pack this week. We are asking all children to write some positive messages on the hat display them on their front window facing their street and deliver some of the smaller cardboard hats with messages to the neighbours. This is one way of bringing a smile to someone’s face or just letting them know we will be ok.

Any Year 5/6 students who require templates of Yellow Hats may pick them up from the front office.
