SheSails Keelboat Training program

Princess Royal Sailing Club is very pleased to announce that a total of 30 women have registered for the Start to Crew and Start to Helm courses now being offered at the club.

I offer heartfelt congratulations to Vice Commodore Susette Evans and Training Director Chris Oldham for their tireless work in planning and coordinating this program and to those whose support has formed the building blocks for the development of SheSails @PRSC, namely Mark Paynter and Geoff Oliver.

The first team kicked off this week with Training Director Chris Oldham, self named MAD (Michelle E, Annette D & Dawn N). Chris reports that all survived the first experience and the team will be back on the water for session two next Tuesday at 8.30am.

The aim of the program is to end up with as many participants as possible graduating as confident and competent crew and/or helmspersons at PRSC's Opening Day on 19 October, although some may continue their training after this date.

The course will be delivered by several Australian Sailing qualified instructors over a minimum of 18 hours of hands-on training, delivered in sessions of three hours during September and October. Participant learning is supported by an easy-to-read Australian Sailing manual for keelboats (yachts).

The course is now fully subscribed, however the interest continues to spread. We hope to arrange more opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to join our lovely club. Stay posted!
