Indigenous Incursion- Aboriginal Infusion

by Tate and  Lucas

This week we had an incursion with a First Nations person named Baz. He taught us about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. He first told us about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders flags and what the coulous and symbols meant. The Aboriginal flag has the red at the bottom which represents the red dirt. The black represents the night sky. The yellow was the sign of the sun.

We also learnt about the not so common flag, the Torres Strait Islander flag. The green at the top represents  Papua New Guinea, the bottom is Australia. The colours represent different parts of the culture, people and environment. The black between the green represents the people. The blue is water, and finally the white symbol is the traditional women's head dress.
