Dear Families,

Today we congratulate and celebrate our Foundation students! '100 Days' of school is a great milestone. It is terrific that they have such great connection to St John Vianney's; their peers, teachers, buddies and school events! We hope that they continue to immerse themselves in their learning and life here at SJV! 2500 school days to the end of Year 12!!!

Thank you to parents, grandparents and friends who support these children so well. We value your encouragement and your participation in the life of our school.

P &F Bunnings BBQ

This Saturday - 29th July at 'Bunnings' Princes Highway Springvale

Come along and buy a sausage and support SJV school!

We look forward to seeing you all come down to Bunnings this Saturday from 8:30am onwards - sausages drinks and lollies! Something for everyone.

Our thanks to our community members who have made donations!! Of course a big shout out to the P&F team who will be manning the sausage sizzle all day. Your prepartion and generosity of time is truly appreciated!!

Excursion and Incursion

It's excitement all around as the Year 1-2 level prepare for their Excursion on Friday at Twisted Science in Moorabbin. Our Year 5-6 students will be participating in a Media Incursion tomorrow and Friday.

St John Vianney's Feast Day Celebration

Our Patron Saint's Feast Day is not until August 4th but as a school we will celebrate firstly next Monday 31st July. KABOOM will conduct a TABLOIDS Sports day from 11:30 - 1pm

Year 4 Camp - Sovereign Hill

Thank you to the parents who came along to our Camp Meeting last Friday. The Year 4 students will head away to Sovereign Hill next Wednesday August 2nd and will return on Friday August 4th. Staff attending will be Caitlin Cellini, Nicole O'Halloran, Rebecca Neofit, Leah Whiting, Jenny Willmott, Jonathan Rooney and Rachael Gregory. Nick Hoare will attend part time and I will be visiting the camp. Parents should have completed all the documentation on Operoo and provided any medication including medical authorisation documentation. Any questions please see your child's teacher or leadership.

Please arrive at the school hall on Wednesday after 8:30am.

Year 3 students will be taught by Nicole Glancy and Paula Warden across these days.

Closure Day -Thank you

Thank youto all parentsfor your support of our Closure Day on Monday. Our focus for staff was on the Science of Reading. The teachers and LSO's spent the day building their knowledge around evidence based practice in the area of reading and learning.

NAPLAN

Our Year 3 & 5 student NAPLAN Results have been sent to us this week and we will send these home with your child tomorrow (Thursday). Our school results are very promising, with all almost all our students meeting expected achievement standards or above. If you have any concerns please make a time with your child's teacher or with our Teaching and Learning Leader Bec Chan.

Class Mass 3-4N

This Friday at 9am 3-4 N will lead our Mass!

Whilst it will be a smaller gathering with our 1-2 & 5-6 Level on Excursion or Incursion, we look forward once again to a beautiful reflective celebration which focus on thanksgiving for our Grandparents.

3-4 N parents are asked to bring a plate for our Morning Tea straight after the Mass. Please include the ingredients if home made or include packaging if item is purchased.

No nuts including cooking oil , or fresh cream.

Thank you to all classes who have hosted our Masses; the class reflections have been reminded us to put our faith into action, to be prayerful and compassionate people! The students have prepared well; read beautifully and carried off all tasks with so much pride! Thank you!

Parent Helper Program begins this week

Thank you to the parents who have kindly volunteered to assist in classrooms across the coming weeks. If you have not joined to be a parent helper and you would like to do so and time permits please contact Bec Chan our Learning and Teaching Leader. At SJV we value parent participation and involvement.

Swimming Program Years 1-6

The Swimming Program for years 1-6 will begin on Monday 7th August and will continue for two weeks. NO SWIMMING on a Tuesday.

Please note the venue this year is Haileybury College Springvale Road Keysborough. Please complete the Operoo forms.

Our Foundation students will participate in the Swimming Program in November!

Camp Australia - OHSC Service

Please note that Brigette our much loved OHSC coordinator has finished up with Camp Australia. On behalf of the school community we thank Brigette for all she has given to the service and our school. Lauren Cook has been appointed the new coordinator by Camp Australia. We welcome Lauren to our community and offer her our support. Please read Camp Australia News in this edition for an introduction.

About Real Life. Sexuality Education Program

This term we will be hostingthree sexual education evening sessions for families (adult & child) facilitated by Sue Pain from ‘About Real Life’. These sessions will include facilitated discussions between parents/carers and their children about life, bodies, safety & relationships. Prior to these in-person sessions all parents are invited to attend an online information webinar (adults only, no children) via the Google Meet link below on Tuesday 2nd August, 7:00pm - 8:00pm.

Reminders....

The school gates are opened at 8:30am. No student supervision before this time. Camp Australia offers before school care form 6:30am

The school is not responsible for knowing who is collecting your child after school. There are too many students leaving the school grounds from 3:15pm. Please ensure your child knows who is picking them up. Students not picked up will be taken to the front office.

Winter uniform should be worn. Sports uniform on Sports Days/ Performing Arts Specialist Days.
