Aoife's Message

 Good afternoon Holy Cross families,

The winter chill has certianly made itself known to us in the last couple of weeks. Not that the children seem to notice! We have been busy digging deep into inquiry learning as a staff, engaging in professional development and putting this into practice with our children. Check out our Learning & Teaching section for more information. Crazy hair and socks of all kinds were on display today, thank you for supporting the Social Justice Leaders in fundraising for the Royal Children's Hospital. Donations can also be made via: https://www.rchfoundation.org.au/donation

Eucharist celebrations

Blessings and best wishes to our Year Four children who will be celebrating the Scrament of Eucharist for the first time over the coming two weekends. We pray for you and hold you in our hearts as you participate in this sacred moment.

Thank you

We are always appreciative of parents coming in to classes to be a guest speaker or to support a lunchtime club. Recently we welcomed Haley O'Meara into Year Five to share stories about immigration. Andrew Fairmaid has been working with a group of children exploring 3-D printing, we can't wait to see some of the designs come to life. Thanks for sharing your expertise and experiences Haley and Andrew.

Sport - Congratulations and best wishes

Xavier Walsh recently represented Victoria on the Under 12 State team. Xavier did an outstanding job, with the team emerging victorious at the end of the competition securing the National title for Victoria. Congratulations Xav on such a huge achievement, your dedication and hard work is very admirable. Well done also to Jaeda Bullen for winning Best and Fairest in the U11 Divi 1 Riddell District Football Netball league. Jaeda runs rings around us at Holy Cross with her skills. Best wishes to all of the children who are taking part in grand finals this weekend!

Our Book Week festivities kick off next week, with children invited to dress up on Wednesday 23rd August. We will have a short parade in the morning, families are warmly invited to stay and watch. Friday 1st September sees a visit from an illustrator, a book fair will be underway aswell - more info to come!

Have a relaxing weekend,

Aoife
