Year Four Team News

with Rebecca, Katie & Matt

Hello Year Four families,

Fortnightly Curriculum Focus

Literacy: Tuesday the 25th of July saw the Grade Fours presenting their chosen Changemakers in the hall. It was evident the students had worked hard and put a lot of effort into their displays. There were costumes and some were even interactive! All the students were more than happy to talk about their changemaker, sharing their knowledge and some fun facts.

In Reading, students have been focusing on their reading fluency and expression. They immersed themselves into their characters performing their Reader’s Theatre scripts.

Writing has seen the students creating a narrative using ‘An Everyday Hero’ prompt. Not only do they discover they have amazing superpowers but they will need them to save their families! What superpower would you choose to have? How would you use it?

Numeracy:  This fortnight, the Grade Fours have been introduced to Number Sense Workshops. They are setting multiplication based goals and playing numeracy games to help support them reach their goals. The students have also been exploring fractions, using fractions walls and other hands-on materials to support their learning.

Inquiry:  With their changemaker presentations now in the recent past, the Grade Fours have begun exploring our solar system and how the seasons change. We will be exploring the sun, moon and earth and the effect of Earth’s tilt.
