Youth Mental Health First Aid
Parents and carers – become an Accredited Mental Health First Aider
To further support the mental health and wellbeing of all students we are pleased to offer Youth Mental Health First Aid® training to parents and carers in our school community.
When: Tuesday 15th August (all day). Participants will also complete self-paced eLearning (approx. 4 hours) in advance of their training.
Who: This course is particularly suitable for parents and carers living with adolescents aged between 12-18 years.
What: Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches adults how to provide initial support to adolescents experiencing a mental health problem or crisis. Learn more about the course here.
In this training you will learn;
- The signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in young people
- How to provide initial help
- Where and how to get professional help
- What sort of help has been shown by research to be effective
- How to provide first aid in a crisis situation.
How to apply: Please complete an expression of interest by Friday 4 August.
Cost: Approximately $70 with concession available for families experiencing financial hardship.
