Prep News

In Prep, we have been learning about Jesus and his friends the disciples. In the Bible, we learnt that Jesus taught his friends the Our Father prayer. We have created a Prep prayer that we would like to share with you.

Lord,

Thank you for your love.

Thank you for all the things you created for us.

Bless all the children and teachers at Galilee.

Help us to love and respect each other and learn together everyday.

Thank you for always being with us.

Lord hear us.

Lord hear our prayer.

The Drama Toolbox Incursion

On Tuesday, we had the Drama Toolbox Incursion. During the incursion we learned about some fairytales, however they were all backwards! We dressed up into costumes. There was dragons, witches and wizards, cats, mice, a pig, dwarves and wolves. Everything got turned upside down, so the wolves oinked like pigs and the dragons could not fly or breathe fire! The dwarfs were angry instead of happy and marched backwards and the mice chased the cats. The witches flew on vacuum cleaners! The Preps had to solve the problem of the backward fairytales. We had to add bits from every fairytale character and put it in the cauldron. We needed the whiskers from the cats and mice, funny giggles from the witches, tail scales from the dragons, tail fur from the wolves and beard hair from the dwarves. Then we had to say a spell to make all the fairytales back to normal.

We felt happy, really excited and good about our incursion. We gave it 5 out of 5 stars for our Drama incursion.

Hoop time 2017

My heart was pounding and my nerves were shaking, as we slowly walked into MSAC knowing that the Year Fives and Sixes were about represent Galilee in Hoop time Basketball 2017.

First we all sat down and had an introduction by Mr Tobin about the day and how it was scheduled. We broke into our teams straight away, feeling nervous for our games but still excited.

Once we were at the stadium, we had some time to practise. We all checked the timetable to find out when we were playing. Some of us watched The All Stars Boys game. They were playing really well! It helped motivate most of us while we were

playing basketball. The All Stars Girls were ready for their first game. It was looking awful when it was 8 nil but fortunately they brought it back and scored many goals and used their defensive skills to help stop the goals from the opposition. In the end they ended up losing but they were still happy with their score, they were just getting started.

The Rookie Team, Gators unfortunately lost their first game, but still had smiles on their faces. They had great passes and were really good at shooting. The Rookie Team, Glory had so much fun! They lost their first game but were happy with their end results. They were in the

next game to win.

The All-Stars Boys had unfortunately just lost their last 2 games, but were full of determination to win the next few games. The next was against St Finbar's. Ollie was dangerous in defense with Michael and Ethan W trying their best to score as many points as possible. Unfortunately they lost by about 9 points.

They had 45 minutes to rest and rethink their game plan. In the next game against St Mary's they finally found their winning groove. Everyone started switching on. Passes were sharp and on point, shots draining the net and everyone helping out in defense. They smashed them by a couple of points, then they went on a winning streak beating St Joan of Arc, Sholem and De La Salle. After those ripping wins they unfortunately didn't make it to the finals but finished in a solid 3rd.

While the All-Stars played, the future stars had just won their 3rd game against St. Mary's. We had the majority of possessions and had some sharp passes in the paint. Dante and Jake were the ball handlers, Chrisoula, Luc and Callum were offence and everyone helped out with the defense. They all did a great job and they deserved to win. They had half an hour to think of a game plan for their next game. If they won this game they would most likely make it to the finals. In their next game they were versing St Finbar's. Unfortunately they had really good offensive players and they were scoring many goals. Even though we tried our best, they managed to beat us. Unfortunately they didn't make it to the finals but kept their hopes up and won their final game against Sholem. They too didn't make it to the finals but got to be third out of 6 teams.

All in all, the day was awesome and everyone had lots of fun even though we did not win anything. Everyone played extraordinary games and we came 3rd in almost all of our tournaments. We all had lots of fun and we hope we can do something like this again.. And last but not least, we would love to thank the teachers and Mr Tobin for organising this awesome event. We thank Charlotte's mum Kate for helping walk down, the scorers Deb, Callum's mother, John’s mother Julie, Christian’s mother Joanna and Noah's grandmother Margery for scoring for 2 teams and all the coaches, Ethan’s father Darren and Joel’s mother Jackie for their amazing cooperation.
