Woolworths Earn and Learn

The Earn and Learn Program will run until Tuesday 19th September 2017. Remember, anyone can collect the stickers in our school community - staff, parents, grandparents, neighbours and friends! Let’s reach out to our school community and earn as many points as we can to earn resources from Modern Teaching Aids.

All you need to do is collect the stickers after shopping at any Woolworths. Once you have completed the sticker page, return to our collection box in the doorway of the school office.

DOGS BREAKFAST

A pancake and a Pie and the vibe was SKY HIGH!

Last Friday saw a first at Galilee, The Father's Day, Kids and Dads Breakfast. It was a true testament of the comradery and spirit we have in our school and a true example of  fabric (high vis, suits, casual and tracksuits) that makes up our diverse community. The ability for our Dads to support this event, saw over 280 present on the morning and the sea of colour provided by Footy Colours day, raised the vibe to an incredible scene. The menu of the day, enabled us to keep an even keel on serving the hungry little vegemite’s and dads, led by a spirited group of Mums  in the kitchen who seamlessly influenced the morning with their amazing contribution and culinary skills.

With spirits high and the all embracing energy and atmosphere fuelled by Dad themed music, roaring renditions of footy songs and “Up there Cazaly”, there is no doubt we can build on this to further galvanise our school. It is very refreshing and rewarding to see all the dads in the room, socialising, catching up, talking footy and just hanging out with the kids, as sometimes we don’t realise how precious these moments are and they are gone in the blink of an eye. As it was a small snapshot of what can be achieved in our school, it was also an amazing opportunity, albeit unknown to many, for the Minister Martin Foley to witness the vibrance and importance of our school in the area as to what underpins it and how it comes together to celebrate and embrace one another as “Team Galilee”.

A big shout out once again, to all the Mums who were involved on the morning and also to all other Mums who influenced their husbands to go to work late and be part of this special day. To all those who didn’t make it, your spirit and support was felt in other ways and we look forward to many more great times in the future. Thanks to everyone for supporting the raffle, and to those dads and kids  who gave their time on the day to man the Gate No 1. The teachers who came along, who took some great photos of the dads, just being in the moment. A special thanks to Wendy and Tegan who were amazing for their  backstop checks, promotion and support, to ensure it wasn’t a DOGS Breakfast! Lastly but not least to all the parents who provided donations, fruit, frypans, lemons, raffle prizes, and photos of your children so as Mr Coaley could create a visual metaphor for you all on the day. Cheers Joss.  A big thanks to Mr Millar, who is supportive and instrumental in events such as these, going ahead, and his vision as to how it further activates, engages and builds a strong parent community.

Just a quick note, if anyone would like to come to the Monthly DOGS catch up for a Lemon Squash, Pie or a pot, we are watching the Footy, GWS v Adelaide at Palace Hotel South Melbourne, from 6:30pm, Thursday (tonight).

Woof, Woof!

Social and Fundraising Group - 2018 planning and input

Our next meeting is at the Emerald Hotel on Tuesday 19th September from 6:30pm.

It would be great to get some new parents involved and also get some input and feedback into planning for 2018.  We have had such a successful year with the first ever welcome picnic and Fathers Day breakfast and it would be great to capture any event expertise and services and ideas to build on for next year. Looking forward to seeing you there.
