Magis

Over 120 people attended the Magis Awards Presentations and Personal Project Opening last Wednesday morning in the College library, an excellent response. The Personal Project Display included 34 projects completed by Years 7 and 8 Magis students, and there was a remarkable range of creativity on display, from videos to computer apps, from beautifully presented stories and poems to fine art works, from biological experiments and reports to a fascinating account of monetary systems. Part of the project was the process journal where much of the learning in this experience took place. Congratulations to all students, and warmest thanks to parents, teachers and others who have supported them. All students involved will receive certificates based on the level of excellence achieve.  The top awards were as follows:

An extended pictorial report on 2018 personal projects as well as Magis Awards in all sections for 2018 will be listed in the hardcover Magis Chronicle for 2018 which should be available in late November.

We are less than two weeks away from the World Scholar’s Tournament of Champions at Yale University, whilst at the start of the same week two Year 8 and one Year 9 team will compete against other colleges in the Quest Gifted and Talented competition at the University of Western Australia. Nomination forms have also been distributed to senior students for the outstanding Notre Dame Cultural Decoding program in January.
