SIS Junior Girls Netball
The Junior Girls Netball Team developed into a very competitive team by the end of the season. Congratulations to the girls on their efforts throughout the five game competition this term.
The first game was an away game against St John’s which saw us learning to combine as a team. Over the next two weeks we settled into our positions and started to develop our court play both in defence and attack.
We had good wins in the next two games, 24 - 10 against Cornish and 22 - 15 against Casey Grammar. Sarah Gordon played very well as our Goal Shooter, using good positional play and athleticism. Porsha Guerrera and Melissa George rotated through Goal Attack and scored well for our team. The centre court was steadily controlled by experienced Sienna Assetta with Jennifer Lako and Shivonne Anand using their speed to assist. In defence Zoe Meechan and Alesha Cannata played strongly to stop their opponents across the centre court, and Sienna Di Ciero led the way, along with Nyamal Kor and Alesha, to stop the scoring by the opposition.
Thanks to our Captain Sienna Assetta and Vice-captain Sienna Di Ciero for their leadership on court, for leading the warm-ups and for helping with training drills. Congratulations to all on a great season!

Junior Boys Football
This year I had the pleasure of coaching the Junior Boys Football Team. Our team had only a very few players who play football outside of school in a league and it gave the majority of the boys an opportunity to experience this great Australian game for the first time. Whilst we did not register a win, the boys had a great time, gave their best and learnt a little about the tackling, manning up, playing their positions and the skills of the game.
We look forward to next season and our team coming back bigger and better after having an introduction to the game. A special mention to Dion Ferraro, who was not only an outstanding player, but a model for our beginning players on how to play the game.

Intermediate Girls Netball
The intermediate girls had a challenging season with a number of changes to the team because of clashes with other school activities. There were many great moments of play and the girls were unlucky not to win their last match of the season after leading most of the game.
Thank you to the junior netballers who filled in when we were short and to all the girls for doing their best.
Congratulations to Alessia Assetta for being the best and fairest and to Milla Amy for the team spirit and most motivated player award.

Basketball Star
In April this year Phoenix Ly travelled to New Zealand with his Kingston Academy basketball teammates to participate in the Mel Young Easter Basketball Classic. His team was in the U13 A grade division and won the trophy.
In July, Phoenix and his team will head to the USA to compete in two more basketball tournaments. We wish them well and hope that it is a great experience and perhaps return with more trophies.

Soccer Star
We are very excited to announce that Peter Kabadais has been chosen to attend the prestigious Beijing Cup in the Term 2 holidays. Mr Harry Bingham, our Soccer School of Excellence Coach, attends this event every year with a select group of players and has been very impressed by Peter’s technical ability and enthusiasm and is looking forward to working with him.
We wish Peter all the very best and look forward to sending more students to this tournament in the future.
