Around the College

Menu planning activity
On Wednesday June 5, the Year 10 Food Technology class hosted a lunch for selected teachers. Students planned a two-course menu based on the teachers likes/dislikes and dietary requirements.
The students prepared and cooked a main course and dessert and served the teachers during lunchtime. Year 10 students are congratulated on their efforts and excellent presentation of their meals.
All the teachers involved were very honoured to be invited and were very impressed with the standard of the meals.

Reflections from two new Bridging students
My first week at NAZARETH College
My English name is Daniel. I come from Vietnam. I’m in Grade 8. I’ve been at Nazareth College for 1 week and so far have enjoyed the experience.
My first day at Nazareth College, I was really shy, I didn’t know where I could go or how to meet new friends. Teachers really welcomed me so I felt a little bit better. I didn’t have lunch at school that day because that was the 2nd Tuesday in the 10 day school cycle so I could go home earlier than normal.
The second day in school was better. Mr. Hermon introduced me the dictionary and I liked it so much, it made the English exercises we were doing easier. Ms. Robert introduced me to the customer service staff in the school canteen and I ordered a small burger and a little cake for lunch. They were so delicious. I’ve met Andy, a male student who comes from Vietnam too. He was friendly and I felt super good after talking with him. But I felt so tired on that day because I had to wake up early. Everything was better and easier than the first day. Actually, everyday so far has been good, I was just nervous on the first day. In my opinion I think Nazareth College will be a fantastic place to learn, relax and have fun. I hope I can study hard and make this school proud of me.
MY FIRST WEEK AT NAZARETH COLLEGE
Hi, I’m Lisa, a new student of Nazareth College. I come from Vietnam and I’m thirteen years old. I have had a fantastic first week in this school.
The place I like the best is the library, it has a lot of books and it has computers too. I can read many kinds of book and enjoy my spare time there. Yesterday, I did a small test to check my English level and it was good so I was very happy! I think lunch-time is the best time in my school day because I can meet my new friends, have my lunch, talk with them about many interesting topics, they’re really kind and friendly. I found it a little bit hard meeting new friends on the first day but they helped me and they’re so cute. All the students at this school are friendly, I always see them come together at break times and they always smile, they are willing to help me if I become stuck with anything. Four days in the new school with the new study environment have been good for me! My second day in the school was better and beautiful. By the way, all the teachers I have met, they’re lovely and they always help me if I need something. I have three English teachers, they are Mrs Fields, Mr Hermon and Ms Robert, they are really good and I like them! The special thing is that this school has a warm feeling because I had a long time waiting for my VISA so when I come back to the school, I had that warm feeling towards the students, friends, teachers, classrooms… it is all really good with me!
Finally, I promise I will try to learn and train myself in this perfect study environment and I will have a many happy times in Australia, yay!
