Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Guardians
I take this opportunity to thank our families for their assistance throughout this semester. It has been an extremely busy one for our students with the College Musical Production, College renovations, Masses, Reflection Days, SIS Sport and activities, Work Experience, camps, examinations and all the other events that schools are involved in.
As one can see, school life is not simply a matter of attending classes day in and day out. There are so many other elements that contribute to the life of a student.
Such variety in today’s schooling is essential as it provides a vast range of experiences for our young people to be part of and participate in. It is hoped that such experiences will give our young people a holistic approach to life. It allows them to integrate within our Community and to take on roles that, traditionally, are absorbed by the workforce.
Work Experience
This week our Year 10s will engage in Work Experience within many different organisations. They will engage with people within those organisations and, hopefully, they will be able to resolve some of their challenges in a work environment. These experiences will be lifelong and will, hopefully, play a part in the choice of their future vocation.
I thank Mrs Elena Flodstrom, the College Careers and Pathways Coordinator, for overseeing the student placements. Elena has been very well supported by Ms Jackie Ousalkas and Ms Kate McLoughlin in the Administration team, together with all of our Year 10 staff, in arranging the visits.
Examinations
The examination period for all Year 9, 10 and 11 students has come to an end for this Semester. I congratulate the vast majority of our students for the manner in which they embraced this experience. From all accounts, the students excelled and continue to build on their exam experience.
We are optimistic that their results will also be favourable, and will be reflected in the forthcoming reporting period. These will be posted via SIMON on the Parent Access Module (PAM). If any parents cannot access these reports, please contact the College for assistance.
Student Achievements
We congratulate Alyssa Mastromanno (Year 11 ) who has secured a performing part in the stage production of Legally Blonde Jnr with the Performing Arts Company at the Victorian College of the Arts.
Congratulations too to Peter Kabadais (Year 7 ) who has been chosen to play in Youth Soccer – Asia. Well done Peter!

We are seeking support with accommodating some overseas students from Tuesday 6 August 2019 to Tuesday 13 August 2019 (7 nights).

In conclusion, I take this opportunity to wish all students and families a well-earned rest throughout the next fortnight. Classes recommence on Monday 15 July 2019.
