Acting Principal's Report

We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.

We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people.

May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.

Glenn Manton Visit

We were exceptionally privileged to have motivational speaker and author, Glenn Manton at our school yesterday, spending time with each of our Year 5/6 classes, as well as our staff after school. Glenn messages around the importance of relationships, authenticity and being the best version of yourself were embraced by our students and staff alike. Glenn is currently working with students and staff at Mount Rowan Secondary College and we see great opportunities in the coming terms to have Glenn working with students at our school, as well as working to build our partnership with the staff and students at Mt Rowan.

Student-led Conferences

Pop the dates in your diary and see below information regarding booking a time with your child's classroom teacher to celebrate and acknowledge achievements in Term One and learning goals for Term Two. Student -led Conferences will take place on April 4 and 5, starting at 3:40 pm both days, with the final interview at 6:50 pm. We look forward to seeing all of our families engaging in important conversations with their child and the classroom teacher about learning.

Connect-Ed Concludes

This week is the final week of the Connect-Ed Program. I would like to sincerely thank all of our families who committed to this incredibly valuable program, and know that the learning that they have undertaken over the past weeks will prove invaluable in supporting learning at home, as well as in the classroom.

A big thank you to Hannah Gluyas (Foundation PLC Leader) and Pat Withell (Learning Specialist) for the development and delivery of Connect-Ed.

Excursions

We are sending the Year 3/4 team and the Year 5/6 team off on their excursions on Friday. The Year 3/4 children will be enjoying the surrounds of The Zoo, and this experience will deepen the learning they are currently undertaking around African and Asian wildlife. The Year 5/6 children and their teachers will be building their knowledge and their skills around open water and the importance of safe behaviours in this environment. We wish both teams a rewarding and enjoyable day.

Road Safety

The importance of road safety, and lawful parking practices, continues to be an issue before and after school along Dundas Street. The safety of all of our children is absolutely paramount to us. We ask that all drivers, and adult pedestrians, ensure that they are abiding by, and demonstrating, safe practices at all times around our school.

Assembly

We hope to see as many families as possible at our next assembly on March 31. See you then!

Enjoy the rest of the week,

Kylie Nissen.
