Narrative Writers

We have spent the last few weeks improving our understanding of narratives.

As well as considering what to include in our writing we have been learning about the structure of a narrative. When we talk about the middle of a narrative we now understand that is where there is a problem. The end tells how the problem is solved and what happens to the characters.

As well as this we investigated how to write the very beginning of our narrative. we all know 'Once upon a time' but that is a bit boring unless it's for a fairy tale. We have been experimenting with dialogue and onomatopoeia(writing the sound) to create sizzling starts that will make the reader want to know more.

Last week, after planning our own, we have written and edited our narratives and made them into books that are now on display. Some students have written long narratives which have taken a while to prepare and write for publication.

Students have really enjoyed this unit of work. M4 have some budding authors!
