Learning Conference (Parent/student and teacher interviews)
Your child/ren's Progress Report for Term 1 will be available in SEQTA Engage by the end of this Thursday. Full details will be communicated on how to access and download this report. Learning conferences (parent-teacher interviews) have been scheduled for Wednesday 29 March, from 1.30pm to 6.30pm as a follow-up to these reports. Again, information will be provided on how to book these interviews with the reports on Thursday.
These meetings will coincide with Years 7-10 (High School) Learning Conferences and will be offered in two formats: either face-to-face on the Commercial Road (High School) campus or alternatively via an online format. The latter option is the required format for those who are feeling unwell on this day or are in self-isolation but is also offered for those not able to make it in person for other reasons. Should you wish to meet online, select video-conferencing when selecting your Preferred Meeting Type. Online links to join meetings will be shared via the online platform.
There will be no timetabled classes scheduled on Wednesday 29 March after 1pm for High School and Clemes students as our experience tells us that these Learning Conferences are most beneficial when students are also part of the conversation. We strongly encourage your child/ren to be present during meetings. This provides an opportunity for any early challenges to be addressed in a constructive way where teachers’ intentions are edified and their professional judgement is valued and respected in the conversation.
Should High School students need to stay at school between the end of their period 4 lesson and the start of the Learning Conferences, supervision will be provided in the S204 classroom - students staying on campus will need to access and remain in these rooms until parents/guardians arrive for the conferences or until the end of the normal school day - whichever comes first.

Duke of Edinburgh Award 2023
Students in years 9 & 10 are invited to sign up to complete the Duke of Edinburgh Award. An email has been sent to all students with a google form attached to fill out.
We will be having a student information and signup meeting on Tuesday 28 March at lunchtime. Please chat to your child if this is something they would like to pursue.

MAT Problem Solving Competition
On Thursday 30 March, several of our budding young mathematicians have been invited to participate in the Mathematical Association of Tasmania’s Problem Solving Competition. The questions are designed to elicit mathematical thinking and may require students to apply their mathematical skills to topics outside of the standard curriculum or to link together different mathematics’ topics that are traditionally taught separately. Each question may require some experimentation and different approaches before a student makes significant headway. In the past, some outstanding Mathematics students have been identified. For each question, students need to explain their reasoning and show their working (using English as well as Mathematics as necessary) to gain full marks. Students may not be able to complete all questions fully in the time frame but they will receive a better mark if they answer some questions very well rather than many questions poorly.
Students interested in participating in this competition should ask their Maths teacher for further details. The competition will run on Thursday 30 March from 8.45am to 10.45am at the High School.
Stories with Friends Event - Storytellers Wanted
Our Stories with Friends event will be held on Thursday 30 March from 3.30pm - 6.00pm (see the Whole School section of What’s On for more information). Our community has a diverse range of cultures and histories, and we would love to include traditional tales and stories from a range of cultures in our event. We ask families to get in touch if they would be willing to read a traditional tale from a book that they have, or tell an oral tale. Second-hand Book Fair: More Books Needed
As part of the Stories with Friends event on Thursday 30 March, we are hosting a second-hand book fair to raise money for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. Its success will depend on the number of good quality, undamaged, sellable books (fiction and up to date non-fiction) and magazines that are donated.
We would be grateful if you could check your cupboards and shelves for books and magazines you no longer want and that are suitable for young children, older children and adults. Donations can be left at the Morris Office, or the High School or Clemes Libraries.
Parent Secondary Campus School Tours
8.45am, Tuesday 28 March
Current families of children in Years 7-12 are welcome to join the Director of Community Engagement Bill Avery for a tour of The Friends' School, High School and Clemes Campuses. The tour will include a walk through of our newly developed Revell Sports Centre and WN Oats Centre. We will also visit important meeting rooms, class rooms and social spaces. This is an excellent opportunity to acquaint yourself with the 7-12 learning spaces and ask more about the L@F24+ Program.
