Vocational Major Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week our Year 12 VM students visited Melbourne Zoo to participate in their Community Conservation Project. Students took an in-depth look at the Marine Response Unit and how they respond to marine and freshwater wildlife in distress. Students discovered the strategies Zoos Victoria utilises to engage visitors in their conservation projects. They will now have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a Zoo Teacher to develop a project plan. This includes identifying roles and responsibilities, which they can then take back to school to implement, evaluate and continue to contribute to help local wildlife.

Our Year 12 students were also lucky enough to hear from Susan McLean who joined us straight after appearing on the Today Show. Susan helped unpack the issues of Cyber Safety and explained the laws which protect young people.

Year 11 VM visited Excape Rooms in Frankston and had a blast! Through doing this they met important PDS outcomes which are challenging to demonstrate in the classroom.

Some things to look forward to.....

27th March - 28th March - Year 11 VM CAMP!!!!

30th March - Year 11 Grand Prix Excursion (free)

3rd April - Year 11 Flourish Girl and Man Cave (all day - $30 cost on Compass)

All students should now have found a work placement for a Wednesday or a Friday. Students who have not returned these forms will be required at school each Friday. During this time they will be allocated to classes and will have time to complete overdue work as well as meet with their mentor teacher who can assist them to find a work placement. Mentor teachers may help the students brainstorm where they might go as well as write a script to call a potential employer. They may also help them to look on the SWL portal for any opportunities that the school might have access to.
