WA State Track and Field Championships

We had great results for Trinity at the WA State Track and Field Championships over the weekend. Year 10 student Harvey and Year 9 student Lachlan competed in the 1500m and 800m. Lachlan won silver in the 1500m and Harvey won bronze in both the 800m and 1500m.

Both boys smashed their personal best times in both events. They are off to represent WA in the Australian Junior Track and Field Championships in Brisbane in April and we wish them the best of luck!

TEAM – Trinity Elite Athlete Mentoring

Following the impact of the pandemic over the last two years, it is hoped that all major sporting competitions and authorities will again be offering deserving athletes opportunities to succeed at the highest level. In the current educational climate, where great importance is placed on mental health and well-being, it is vital that young men experience a well-rounded curriculum where an emphasis on striving to do their best in all respects is evident. Therefore, within the College's Spirit of Excellence, to ensure our high-achieving student athletes maximise their opportunities and potential moving forward, the College is excited to offer the TEAM Program again.

The acronym TEAM (Trinity Elite Athlete Mentoring) was devised to reflect the program's critical focus: to provide guidance through mentoring athletes managing the dual demands of their academic and sporting commitments. Targeting elite and high-performing athletes who meet the eligibility criteria, the ideal is to provide advocacy to those students who seek to combine their sporting goals with productive and challenging academic pathways.

TEAM will enhance student athletes' connectedness and overall well-being in balancing the demands of study and sport during their time at the College. Through the program, athletes develop mental skills, gain exposure to development opportunities, have access to performance aids and are provided with the support networks necessary to assist them in managing their many demands, particularly those related to their busy schedule of academic and sport-related activities.

Students wishing to access the support of the College's new TEAM Program must meet eligibility by competing at a State or National level. This can be demonstrated by the current membership of a State or National squad or team – e.g. Australian Institute of Sport or the West Australian Institute of Sport.
