Hands On Learning News
Hands on Learning has hit the ground running for Term 1!
Our students have developed their skills while designing and building benches out of reclaimed sleepers from the demolition works on the junior campus. These have been installed on the Senior Campus and have provided valuable seating in a relaxing area.
We are in the early stages of a collaboration with Frankston South Community Centre to design build and install herb and vegetable planter boxes with incorporated seating. These will beautify and serve the onsite café and provide meaningful gardening engagement for those who are involved with the community centre.
Work has begun by the team to update and refurbish the Hands On Learning precinct, which has already begun with signage and benches and will continue throughout the year.
All of our hard work deserves good food! Hands on Learning students participate in lunch preparation (and eating!) on participation days. We have enjoyed making tacos, burgers, fajitas, sushi and dumplings. This is one of the highlights of our program, and the benefits of cooking and eating together are well known and something that we see the value of here at Hands on Learning.
We look forward to a busy and rewarding Term 2, with more exciting projects on our horizon.
