NAPLAN

All Years 7 and 9 students will participate in NAPLAN testing from Wednesday 15 until Monday 20 March. English and Maths teachers are currently engaging their students in completing the practice tests, which will provide the opportunity to work out any issues prior to the test.

Students will be undertaking practice tests using the NAPLAN demonstration site to get used to the test format. We encourage parents/carers to review the preparation resources with their child and to explore the NAPLAN demonstration site.

As students will be completing NAPLAN Online, it is important that students understand the technology requirements of their BYO device and are well prepared on the day.

To complete NAPLAN Online, each student will require:

  • A fully-charged computer each day during the testing period
  • The NAPLAN locked-down browser (LDB) application
  • Wired headphones for each test (Note: Bluetooth or other wireless headphones are not supported by the browser). Please check your device as some computers no longer come with a headphone jack, and you will need to purchase an adapter or headphones with the correct wired connection.

If you do not have the NAPLAN lockdown browser, you can use the lockdown browser download link below:

NAP Locked down browser - Release - 5.2.2.msi

Instructions:

Click download.

It will download a file that they will then have to run.

When running the installer, they just click next and install.

Catch up tests will be available for absent students up until Monday 27 March. For students who regularly access various forms of classroom support to complete assessment tasks, similar support can be organised; if your child is eligible for support due to disability or exemption, please discuss this with the school this week.

Students may be withdrawn from NAPLAN by their parent/carer. This is a matter for consideration by parents/carers in consultation with the principal. If, after consultation, you decide to withdraw your child, a student withdrawal form will need to be completed.

For IT support, students can email ITServiceDesk@fhs.vic.edu.au or visit the IT Helpdesk on campus. For any other questions regarding NAPLAN this year, please contact Kate Adriaans or Sue Simadri.
