Lance received the Senior School Award for his animated video, titled Inescapable Courage, which he created in Blender 3D.

Delilah received the Middle School Award for her digital collage/illustration which is reminiscent of sci-fi posters from the 1900’s; such as Metropolis.

I also want to take this opportunity to congratulate all students who participated in the competition. The range and diversity of the work submitted was definitely impressive, and it was inspiring to see our students express themselves through the medium of art.

The theme for this term's competition is Surrealism. Characterized by the use of dream-like and illogical imagery, the art movement aimed to challenge conventional understanding of reality and representation within art. Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte and Joan Miro are just some of the many prominent Surrealist Artists who students could be inspired by when creating their artwork and submissions.

Once again, congratulations to our Term 1 winners, Lance Gan, Delilah Vlasak Galante, and Joy Su, and to all other participants. Keep an eye out on Compass and the Art Instagram account for more information about the Term 2 competition.

MEDIA EXCURSION TO TOP SCREEN

On Thursday 27 April, Year 12 Media students got the opportunity to see the Top Screen and Top Designs exhibitions.

Attending Top Screen was an amazing opportunity for us which provided valuable insights into the latest trends in media production. Witnessing some of the most outstanding works from 2022 was an enriching experience that showcased the unique elements and ideas that set them apart from one another. Additionally, it was a great learning opportunity for our students to study the creative techniques and strategies used by the talented filmmakers and artists. By attending this year's Top Screen event, we gained a deeper understanding of what it takes to produce a top-scoring film, leaving us feeling motivated to strive for excellence in our own media projects.

Moreover, attending the Top Screen exhibition helped us to develop a greater appreciation for the art of filmmaking, as well as other media related works, and the creative process. We were able to see first-hand the immense effort and dedication required to produce a successful film or media piece, and it has motivated us to work harder on our own projects to achieve similar success.

Thank you to Ms Lo Presti for organizing this excursion!
