NOTEWORTHY VOLLEYBALL AT MCKINNON CONTINUES

In our last Newsletter, we reported that James Kay of Year 11 was headed to Thailand as a member of the U19 Australian Volleyball Team to compete in the U21 Thai National Volleyball Championships.  We are pleased to report that they won one match and lost two in pool play.  James was also selected to participate in an Australian Representative Team to play a friendly against the Thai Men’s Team, which was a great experience.  You can see James in action in the photo below.

In other volleyball news, Vic Beach hosted the annual Beach Volleyball Presentation night on Friday 21 April. Several our McKinnon students were selected in the top 4 in their division to win awards.

Well done to Kyla Peel (Year 11), James Kay, Anita Krapivsky (Year 11) and Brit Apps (Year 9) for their nomination of awards.

DANIELA TAPIA LEAL SWIMS HER WAY INTO THE NATIONALS

In April, Daniela Tapia Leal of Year 9 participated in the Artistic Swimming National Championships in Perth with fantastic results.

Whilst relatively new to synchronised swimming, Daniela was able to draw on her on her other athletic skills to achieve the proficiency required to compete at this level.

This is the first time Daniela has travelled so far for a sporting competition. She came 2nd in her Combo Event, 7th in her Solo Event and 25th in her Figure Event. It’s an outstanding achievement, striving amongst competitors from Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong & Singapore.
